Those in law enforcement share a bond that few outsiders could comprehend. As a fraternal organization comprised of individuals actively engaged in law enforcement, we understand. Quoting the mission statement from our Grand Lodge, "We are committed to improving the working conditions of law enforcement officers and the safety of those we serve through education, legislation, information, community involvement, and employee representation."
The strength of the Fraternal Order of Police is derived from its membership. Our Lodge membership consists of approximately 200 active, retired, and associate members. Regardless of your rank or title, if you are a law enforcement professional or a supporter of the law enforcement community in the Bloomington or Monroe County area, we would like to extend a fraternal invitation for you to join our organization.
Our Lodge offers various levels of membership: - Active - An Active member must be a full time, sworn law enforcement officer or agent whose department is located within the Bloomington or Monroe County area. The term "full time" means you are engaged in such employment as your principle source of livelihood. ONLY Active members are eligible to vote or hold office in the Lodge.
- Retired - Retired membership shall be comprised of retired regularly appointed or elected law enforcement officers who withdraw from active membership upon or after retirement from their law enforcement agency.
- Associate Professional - Associate Professional members are non-sworn (civilian) or part-time employees of law enforcement agencies such as dispatchers, correctional officers, reserve officers, and support staff. An Associate Professional can elect to participate in the Legal Defense Plan.

These members are friends and families of law enforcement officers, responsible and respected business persons, and citizens willing to devote a portion of their time and efforts toward assisting the various law enforcement agencies of our community.
